The latest version of this software will soon be reviewed by our
informers.
Originally developed for internal use at the Dutch Type Library and urw , dtl FontMaster was transformed to a suit of end user programs over time. This conversion asked for a diuerent development approach,
because a balance between functionality and ease of use had to be found.
The original development of fm was dominated by the technical needs at dtl and urw and was actually more or less the opposite of a ‘regular’ production of a commercial tool, which will normally often start with an investigation of the potential market. This explains also for instance the interface development of fm, which came initially second to the functionality and which leaded to some ‘rough edges’ in (very) early releases of
dtl FontMaster. |
